To seize the moment means to make the most of the moment you are living. You could take it as being the opposite of letting opportunities pass you by, of hesitating and doubting.
If you seize the moment, you are not only grabbing the opportunities that come with both hands, but you are also creating your own, making the most of the split second you have.
You take the moment you are in, and make it yours. This is your time, your opportunity, and you run with it. (Quora.com)
I have realized over the years that I have spent way too much time dwelling on the errors and events of the past. I am determined to live a more positive life, free of regrets. Here are a few ways to seize your moment and live the life that is waiting for you.
- Stop making excuses. You, and only you, are responsible for your life and not anybody else. You have to take responsibility. Granted, there are some scenarios and individuals with bad intentions but overall, you have to make the decision as to how it will affect your outcome.
- Choose NOT to be a victim. It happens to the best of us, those thoughts of “Why me?” and feeling like the choices made have created such a mess, things cant be made right. You will only start to make progress when you accept the mistakes, decide not to repeat them and resume your dreams. LIfe is not fair for any of us, there will be storms but remain solid with getting up as many times as you fall down. Keep in mind, some events and people, you have to stay clear. Any type of physical or emotional, verbal abuse, DO NOT, I repeat do NOT tolerate. No one is entitled to treat you like crap.
- Stop comparing yourself to others. Jealousy and insecurity can rob you of a meaningful life. In this society, where social media has become routine, we can get so caught up in others lives that we forget how awesome we are! You have your own unique path, and comparing your journey to someone else will only deter your progress/success. Focus on fulfilling your passions and goals.
- Take action now. We tend to put off things that are important to us, telling ourselves that it can wait until things are just right in our life. With this type of thinking, nothing ever gets accomplished and most time is spent feeling down about missed opportunities etc. Whatever can be done now, just do it! Think about the goal be it short-term or long-term and create a plan. Writing things down really allows the thought to manifest into the physical. It works but you must be willing to end the doubt and hesitation that comes along with trying anything new. If you don’t know about a subject, find a way to learn as much as you possibly can. Don’t waste your time on regrets. Learn the lesson and move on. We all have so much life in us to live and its time to start loving every moment.
